Wine on Ubuntu with nvidia grid vgpu

Post by jeffriechers »

So I am setting up Linux distributions in my lab for Citrix Virtual Desktops using Nvidia vgpus. All is working great, and I decided to test out wine on these distributions as well.

Set it up on Rocky 9.3, worked great. Ran Windows putty in my virtual desktop without a problem.

Decided to add it to my Ubuntu instance, and immediately got knocked off my session. Digging in I see that installing wine removed the nvidia-grid vgpu driver. I reinstalled that and wine stopped working. So I updated the vgpu driver, same problem. Went with the updated compiled version instead of the apt-get version, I still see it is going to remove the vgpu driver.

What info can I provide on this? Is there something special I need to do to make things happy on Ubuntu? Or do I just demo it on Rocky only, and not Ubuntu.
