Cheat Engine won't install/start

Hi,
I tried to install Cheat Engine 7.3, 7.4, and 7.5, but the setup windows' screens went blank. I discovered a similar problem with the setup window in other applications.

My wine version is wine-8.14 (Staging) on Fedora 38.

Strange, your output is the same as what I get.
Do you get anything when you install the Windows fonts?

Thank you for your response. Although I installed the Windows fonts, nothing changed.
The same thing happened when I installed Cheat Engine on Windows and copied the programme folder to my Fedora laptop; black windows that vanished after a short while (although the icon app was still there, and the app was still running in the background).

It gets even weirder.
When I try to install Cheat Engine 7.5 under Virtualbox, I also get a black screen. After that, when I change the Windows version, everything works fine, even when I change the version back.

What you can try is to install the Wine version from WineHQ (or the one from Fedora if you are currently using the WineHQ version).

Hmm if the true Windows OS VM won't do it, it's gonna be something he changed, and wants to know about it... ogl/dx/vulkan something or other, maybe Dark cares about linux/wine/proton users, so let him know about this: https://github.com/cheat-engine/cheat-engine/issues

Q: is this the one with the adbot stuffed in it, (did you self-compile, did you get the patreon version w/o ads, etc?) It could be specific to the adbot code if you both grabbed the public installer...

Sorry for not being clear. The installation with Virtualbox is with Ubuntu 23.04 and Wine 8.0.1

The version of Cheat Engine that I have tried is from https://www.cheatengine.org/downloads.php.

I had the same outcome after installing the winehq version on a brand-new Fedora installation. I have attempted to set up a Windows 10 bare-bones computer, and it works. The amusing part is that, out of all the Windows applications I have on my Fedora system, just cheatengine doesn't work.
Do you recommend opening a bug report on their github page? What should I post if so? I doubt if I should just state that it is incompatible with Linux Wine. I posted a log on my first tread, should I share it here?

Evidently, Cheatengine runs on his computer (Mint runs on VM).
I think there might be a missing component on my system.

By removing the dark theme on Cheat Engine as suggested by Dark, I was able to resolve the issue.
Below his advice:

regedit and look at hkcu/SOFTWARE/Cheat Engine/ and add the DWORD value named "Disable DarkMode Support" and set it to 1
you can also try running ceregreset in case you've set something wrong
