Mass Effect

Post by FSFDFDFJS »

I'm running Ubuntu 23.04 with KDE Wayland on a laptop with AMD 5600H CPU + iGPU and nVidia RTX3060 dGPU.
I tried to play Mass Effect on Wine 8.0 (with dxvk and vkd3d). But the game was very laggy during start-up, taking about 5 minutes before the full-screen game shows up. The moment the game shows, there will be following errors are shown:

Code: Select all

0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Failed to compile shader, vkd3d result -4.
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Shader log:
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 <anonymous>:1:337: E5005: Function "tex2D" is not defined.
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Failed to compile shader, vkd3d result -4.
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 Shader log:
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2 <anonymous>:1:370: E5005: Function "tex2D" is not defined.
0024:err:d3dcompiler:D3DCompile2
Loading savegame also takes a long time (can be more than 10 minutes). If I Alt+Tab out of the game then the game cannot be brought back to full screen anymore. Each time I click the game in task bar, an error will show:

Code: Select all

0024:err:x11drv:xinerama_get_fullscreen_monitors Failed to get xinerama fullscreen monitor indices.
However the abovementioned full screen error does not seem to cause issue on Mass Effect 2, which runs okay with Wine.
