flatout2 multiplayer -- cedega yes / wine no

Post by titi »

Is there any chance that wine will run flatout2 in multiplayer mode?
If I start multiplayer, it simply hangs..... ( kill -9 !)
But I'm told that flatout2 multiplayer runs fine in cedega ?
Anyone knows a solution for wine?

( Singleplayer flatout 2 runs perfect in wine.)

OK wine 1.0 upto 1.1.6
game/wine crashes without any message on concole( there are messages of course when game starts, but not while connecting to a multiplayer game! )
Tested today on ubuntu 6.06 ( wine1.0)
and ubuntu 8.04 hardy ( wine 1.1.6 )

What happens when connecting to multiplayer game:
Connect menu is fine,
Servers are found
You can choose a server
When game starts or you leave a server ( pressing escape ) game crashes.

Music is still playing but Display stops.
Process can only be killed to stop it.

Can you run this program from the directory that it was installed to and note any terminal output that results?

It is possible that Transgaming found a fix that has not been applied to Wine and that is why you can run this game under Cedega but not Wine.

Are there any news for this? Is anyone working on it?
If this networking would work this would be a real platinum game!

I found only this:
