IM fcitx is not working on desktop apps running with Wine

Post by elmelundsvej »

Hej, is there any doc to elaborate the IPC mechanism design and implement between Windows App running with Wine and IM FCITX server?
I bump into a question that might related to its mulfunction when I tried to use my CJK IM in a GUI-based Windows Desktop Application.

Sorry, I can't answer your question based on my poor knowledge, but here are a few clues.
In my case, the IM box shows at the bottom of the current window when typing in a text box (I don't know if it is a bug of Wine). I'm using Ubuntu 22.04 with LXQt 1.2, Fcitx 4.2.9.8.
However, I do remember that I had encountered similar problem when I tried to use Fcitx within Chromium (snap package). But it works within Firefox, PaleMoon and Edge (installed from deb package).
Here's the documentation I've just found:
<https://fcitx-im.org/wiki/FAQ#When_use_ ... iggered_on>
<https://fcitx-im.org/wiki/Input_method_ ... _variables>
I noticed that Fcitx cannot be turned on within Wine if the environment variable `XMODIFIERS` is unset or set to a value other than "@im=fcitx".
