Wine C++ runtime library error - Command and Conquer Generals

Post by tomcass »

Hello everyone,

I am trying to get Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour working on my computer. I'm running Debian 10 and Wine 7.0. I managed to get the game installed just fine without any errors but when going to play the game I am getting the following error:

Wine C++ runtime library
Runtime Error!
Program: generals.exe abnormal program termination

I have installed the Microsoft visual C++ runtime libraries 2005, 2008 and 2010 which I read were needed for this game. I had some trouble installing the libraries due to a SHA checksum mismatches with winetricks but I was able to install them manually without it.

I'm not getting much information with the normal wine debug level and when setting it to +all I get way too much to paste here.

What's a good debug level to paste the log here for you guy's?

Thanks,

Tom

I had an issue that sounds similar. I found the solution in this post. Copying the Options.ini from an old installation solved it for me.
