Hello friends,
I am having some issue with connecting to my favorite online game of yesteryear, Neverwinter Nights 2, and am hoping against hope that there might be a fix for it.
I can start the game just fine, and singleplayer seems to work without any hitches that I have noticed. When I try to Direct Connect to a server using the server's IP address, the connection fails and times out. I am able to join the server on my Windows machines which are on the same internet connection.
Neverwinter Nights 2 has a client extension, but I have no knowledge of how to get that to work on Linux.
I have already tried a thing or two. I followed the instructions listed here:https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#My_program_ ... get_online.
I imagine the instructions are rather dated considering it refrences Wine 1.X, but when using hostname -i, my listed ip address did start with 127, so I figured I would give it a try anyway.
After following the linked instructions, nothing seems to have changed (except that my hostname -i gives back my actual IP address), and I still can't connect to any servers. I have contacted multiple server managers, but everything appears to be working well on their end, as best that they can tell.
I am using popOS, which is based on Ubuntu, if anyone is interested. https://pop.system76.com/
I am using Lutris, and have installed Neverwinter Nights 2 through GOG https://lutris.net/games/neverwinter-nights-2-complete/.
Wine version is listed as lutris-fshack-6.14-3-x86_64, which is the default version for the community installed.
Thanks,
Uber
