Hey there,
I'm currently trying to get HeidiSQL's update check to work again: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50122
But before I was able to realize it was a wininet.dll issue I tried accessing http://www.heidisql.com/updatecheck.php with iexplore to no avail.
On the console it was reporting that Gecko was missing. I got it to work and even posted on askubuntu on how to solve it: https://askubuntu.com/questions/1290789 ... wine-gecko
Which I'm now unsure my answer is correct since I freshly installed wine on another machine to test if it was config rot on my initial testing grounds, and the procedure I mention on that askubuntu answer didn't work. It did work after I did that and msiexec /i path/to/wine-gecko.msi <-- Downloaded from your wiki: https://wiki.winehq.org/Gecko
IMPORTANT
The thing that gets me is that in many posts I've seen people mention that wine will ask to download wine-gecko when you create a new prefix.
Well I had to create about 3 new prefixes to test the HeidiSQL issue and not once did I get asked anything about wine-gecko or even wine-mono
So, what's the official standing on the now missing wine-gecko{version}.deb and wine-mono{version}.deb packages on ubuntu 20.10?
Cheers,
Gus
Why is wine-gecko and wine-mono not on Ubuntu 20.10 anymore?
Re: Why is wine-gecko and wine-mono not on Ubuntu 20.10 anymore?
Where did you get Wine from? Wine from dl.winehq.org should ask to download gecko and mono if they are not installed, but Debian removes that ability from their packages, and I believe the Ubuntu distro packages are based on the Debian ones.gcarreno wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 5:10 pm
