vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
Wine version: wine-5.0.2
OS: Ubuntu 20.04 Gnome
Program: https://www.vdos.info/
I am a Wine novice. Using Wine unmodified.
Trying to run the excellent vDos emulator using the EATMEM 64 to run NewViews accounting software.
The program runs for some time ( minutes) with no problems.
When the Wine window focus is lost or screen saver comes on then on return to the window the following error appears
" Wine Windows Program Loader" is not responding - wait or force quit
The error also occurs when running only vDos ( no New Views running)
Wait -does nothing
Force -quit exits the program
Any help would be appreciated

Re: vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
Can't you use dosbox? Or try the NewViews program directly with Wine?

Re: vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
DosBox works however vDos runs faster and shows more lines of the screen. It is much more productive to work with vDos because you don't have to scroll to see the last columns of the page. Wine can't run NewViews alone.
Re: vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
Hi, I tried this but it doesn`t hang here (wine-5.16 on Debian)
Things worth to try maybe (?):
-Try run form terminal (wine vDos.exe) and look for suspicious console output
- Try wine-5.16
Difficult to guess what could be wrong, as i cannot reproduce this hang...
Regards

Re: vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
No vDos version mentioned, do you use the latest (2020.03.01) version?

Re: vDos hangs after minutes of inactivity
Recent update now runs wine 5.18. Error still appears. Attached is the Wine error notification file

Hi
Could you also post the console output before the crash happens?
