I have been checking for WINE 5.8 builds on https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/macosx/download.html but no updates. Is WINEHQ not updating the OSX builds anymore? I can switch to MacPorts if that is the case, just wondering.

Asking on the forms for a packages will give you no results honestly someone already filled see Bug 49167
However Wine-5.8 is broken on macOS anyway it’s only been resolved a couple of days ago upstream.
macports doesn’t offer recent wine versions, I maintain an overlay for this reason macports-wine it includes;
- wine-stable-5.0
- wine-devel-5.7
- wine-staging-5.7
- wine-crossover-19.0.1
