Radio programming software RS232 connection in Fedora Linux

Post by MissRiaElaine »

Hi all,

New user here so apologies if this has been asked before, but I can't find anything specific to my problem.

I wish to run some 2-way radio programming software (specifically for the Tait Orca series of radios) in Fedora Linux. The software installs and appears to run ok under Wine, but the communication between the software and the radio is not working. The interface cable is terminated on a DB25 plug, which has a small PCB in it which acts as a bridge between the PC and the radio. It defaults to COM1, which in Windows works fine, but in Fedora it cannot see the serial port at all.

I suspect there is some sort of driver that I haven't installed but need to, can anyone advise please..?
