I registered to the wiki.because i liked to change a link from http to https on this site: https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks
But now i read
You do not have permission to edit this page, for the following reason:
The action you have requested is limited to users in one of the groups: Administrators, Trustworthy.
Why should users register to the wiki when they still cant edit it? Cant you do it like wikipedia? If its a important page or untrustworthy user, then just not list the change on the main site and send the change to a moderator to either accept it or not.
I would like to edit parts of the wiki
Re: I would like to edit parts of the wiki
Users have to request edit privileges by email because that's the only way that works to keep out spammers. You can do that by following these instructions. When asking for edit privileges, if you are not already known to the project, I recommend explaining who you are and exactly what changes you plan to make.
Alternatively, you could post here what you want to change and I can do the edit for you if the changes are acceptable.

Re: I would like to edit parts of the wiki
The link here https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks#Getting_winetricks to https://winetricks.org/ is broken. It does not support HTTPS. This is a security issue and create a situation for MITM-attacks and i have disabled loading unencrypted websites for years. There should either be HTTPS enabled on https://winetricks.org/ or the link should be directly https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks .
Re: I would like to edit parts of the wiki
The link was not broken; it worked fine. I did, however, change it to point directly to the winetricks bug tracker rather than the front page, and a side benefit of that is that the link is now https://.igytouqc wrote:The link here https://wiki.winehq.org/Winetricks#Getting_winetricks to https://winetricks.org/ is broken. Winetricks is a separate project; report the problem to them. There should either be HTTPS enabled on https://winetricks.org/
Re: I would like to edit parts of the wiki
There is still the non-https link "The script is maintained by Austin English at http://winetricks.org "
Could you then, when you cant enable https on the server there, please instead of using this unencrypted link use this link?
https://github.com/Winetricks/winetricks
Thanks

Re: I would like to edit parts of the wiki
I'm afraid if everyone who want to edit some wiki parts and make content better will have to write moderators and explain them what they want to redo, that soon enough there will no wiki virtues left
