Linux wine midi

Post by zimbodel »

I have some nagging wine midi problems. Rather than to ask questions right now is there a known tutorial i can work through getting midi to work in wine so i can asl more pointed questions after working through that.

In the mean time here is where i am.
I am trying to get wine recognize a maudio uno midi usb adapter. Other midi ports and devices are shown in midiox in wine, but not the uno. So midi seems to be recognized if it is non alsa controlled. Alsa is not visible as an option in winecfg audio. I can only guess that that causes the trouble.

I assume you've already read https://wiki.winehq.org/MIDI ?

What kind of USB adapter are you using? Is it usable in Linux?

I will work through it thanks.

In the mean time.
I am using a Midisport Uno wich works great with linux as host. No problems.
Even my windows virtual machines running on Linux uses it and works.

It is only wine that has trouble with Midi, and it sure wont be the midisport. It is well supported in Linux.
Wine sees the midisport. I have it detected as input and output device in MidOx.

I'm a bit confused now. So does wine see it or not? What exactly is the problem?

Sorry, I am busy with 3 different problems and got confused with the post. Wine doesnt see the Uno.
Here is a screenshot of the devices detected from midiox in wine. Wine see my soundcard (audiobox) midi (VIA USB not through UNO). but not the Uno Midisport itself.. I cant attach images here so I link externally.

The Uno works great in Linux natively

Okay, different question - is that device for midi input or for midi output?

It can be for both, but I am not using it at all in wine at the moment.

Remember that the Audiobox DOES NOT use the midi midisport uno adapter. It is a usb device with mid-usb capability through usb. Its done in the audiobox driver.
The midi adapter itself needs to be visible in wine right ?
