Those aren't actually errors...
  • What Linux Distribution are you using?
  • What version of Wine are you testing with?
  • What command are you using to launch Steam?
  • Have you installed MS corefonts (or have the required TT fonts installed globally)?
I don't see anything in your logs that would suggest what is causing your issue.
I certainly can't reproduce the issue locally on my system.

It works in my desktop gentoo and in another debian-sid partition on that netbook...

I suggest drilling down on that difference... Debian Sid presumably has similar package versions to your Gentoo install.

Are you sure:

Code: Select all

-march=bonnell -mtune=bonnell
is a supported build target for that hardware... I generally prefer native - which is typically safer than using a specific target.
I looks OK - from the gcc manual - but there could be corner cases...

It might also be worth wading through a log with:

Code: Select all

export WINEDEBUG=+timestamp,+tid,+all
Also sometimes running Wine applications with strace can sometimes pick up things missing from the Wine logs.

Perhaps you could post these logs on a pastebin-type site?

For the record I'm testing with an -O3 build of Wine 3.3 - on a Gentoo install with LTO and graphite optimisations enabled on all packages supporting these flags.

Code: Select all

[ebuild R ~] app-emulation/wine-vanilla-3.3-r1:3.3::bobwya USE="X alsa cups custom-cflags dos fontconfig gecko gphoto2 gsm gssapi gstreamer jpeg kerberos lcms ldap mono mp3 ncurses netapi nls odbc openal opencl opengl osmesa pcap perl png pulseaudio realtime run-exes samba scanner sdl2 ssl threads truetype udev udisks vulkan xcomposite xinerama xml -capi -oss -prelink (-selinux) {-test} -v4l" ABI_X86="32 64 (-x32)" 0 KiB
So hardly a "stable" test system - compared to yours!

I don't compile on the netbook so I can't use native, I extrapolated the target with commands like this one:

Code: Select all

gcc -v -E -x c -march=native -mtune=native - < /dev/null 2>&1 | grep cc1 | perl -pe 's/^.* - //g;'

It seems to get lost in a loop with these debug settings, I have a log with WINEDEBUG=+relay,+seh,+tid if you want...

Can't find a site that accept big texts... I'll upload a compressed one here.
EDIT: its too big, I've uploaded it here:
https://ufile.io/hj7on

I'll also try to see whats different in the debian sid partition...

Am I correct in assuming the strace log is for a different WINEPREFIX to the original one you gave logs for?

I'm guessing the WINEPREFIX is either of:

Code: Select all

/home/michele/win32
/home/michele/win33
- i.e. things look a bit broken there...

Are you using a Steam Client that was installed to a different WINEPREFIX - in the newly created WINEPREFIX?
That won't work.

You can re-use your independent Steam libraries with a new Steam installation.
Just install all your games to a Steam Library directory outwith any of your WINEPREFIX's.
That's precisely what I do myself...

You are right, I did a typo in the command, the correct one is win32, wintes was a new one to get new info on a creation of a prefix.
Anyways the behaviour is the same, here is the strace:

SOLUTION

Post by sassolino »

I've found what was wrong:

eselect mesa list
[1] classic
[2] gallium *

was pointing to gallium and not to classic, idk how it got there. :?
I put it on classic and now it works.

Thanks.
