Accessing a remote USB dongle over Internet

I need to run IAR Embedded Workstation and I have a Mac (OS X 10.11). I've been running a Win7 VirtualBox which works fine, and I use VirtualHere (USB over IP) to access a remote USB dongle (Safenet) to keep the license server happy

Now I would like to ditch the Win7 VM and have installed Wine on my Mac (via WineBottlerCombo_1.8-rc4). I've installed IAR and it executes ok.

Now for the usb dongle. How do I access it over the internet so that IAR (in Wine) finds it?

Do I run VirtualHere in Wine? VirtualHere mounts the USB device as if it is local.

Or do I run VirtualHere on my Mac, which means the remote USB device shows up attached to OS X, and somehow configure Wine to access it ?? (maybe similar to how VirtualBox can access the OS X usb devices) ??

I guess you have better chances running VirtualHere on Mac and get a patched Wine (for USB support)

That's what I figured -- i.e. running VirtualHere on Mac.

Where do I get a patched Wine with USB support from ?

That is the tricky part. It's far from being supported...
