Different games failing different ways

Post by maikeu »

I'm using the current stable, 1.6.2.

I'm running Ubuntu 15.04 on an i5 4960 and GTX 960. Except for PES 2012, these all occurred also on my old laptop (ubuntu 14.04).

I've tried installing the games:

rFactor-

successfully followed instructions from wineHQ and other sources to complete installation. However when I go to run the game, it opens firefox and continuously opens more and more tabs until I log off. It's weird, and I can't find any information about this type of bug. Does anybody know what this bug might mean?

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=13701
This is failing when trying to install both from DVD and from ISO file, hitting "autorun.exe," I get to the installation menu and can click "install," but hitting that button ends up just leading back to the same autorun.exe menu. Hitting setup.exe has the computer working for a few seconds, then nothing- so I assume this is crashing and I need to find a fix. Online sources have no references to this problem that I can find.

Football Manager 2011 https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=22275
I hit either autorun.exe or setup.exe , the "setup is loading" screen appears, but then it appears to crash. I tried to set some dll overrides recommended, but no change.

Since there is no answers after a week, it seems you are trying to solve too many problems at once while providing too little information. First of all, try upgrading Wine. 1.6.2 is very old, current version is 1.7.45. If after this you still encounter problems, I recommend creating one thread at a time per single game, do not forget to include terminal output (please read the FAQ if you do not know how: http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-525985f ... e1ee7bafd3 ; if output is long, use pastebin.com).
