DOS programs

Post by raym »

I don't use WINE at present. On my Mac with macOS 10.13.6,
I would like to use an old DOS program that I currently have running
on a Windows XP laptop. What would I need to do? Thanks.

You’ll be wanting to use DosBox not wine

I saw WineBottler and thought that might work, since DOS is within Windows.
When I tried DosBox earlier, I had trouble getting it to work.

WineBottler is a third-party project and has nothing to do with Winehq, WineBottlers “latest release” was September 3, 2019 including wine-4.0.1 within its custom “wine.app” not to be confused with a Winehq release.

As for DosBox maybe lookup some guides to see how to use it correctly as it can be a bit of a PITA but is needed for pure dos executables. Not to be confused with 16Bit Windows executables.
