Skyrim crashing after bethesda logo

Post by lorulynn »

I've used Wineskin a lot in the past and am fairly new to Wine, unsure why this is happening. Happens in every wineskin wrapper and wine itself. No mods installed, running through steam on 2017 15 inch MacBook Pro. Any help would be greatly appreciated- I'm unsure where to begin troubleshooting and I don't yet know how to get run logs from wine. Steam overlay is disabled through libraries in winecfg and in steam settings, and wine is set to Windows XP, not 7. Steam works fine, steam store and library will load, and the Skyrim startup screen works as well. Hitting play runs the Bethesda logo/intro, after which Skyrim promptly crashes. Steam remains open and unaffected. Could have something to do with the game itself but I have no way to test.

You might want to check the appdb on this site to make sure you have installed everything needed to run Skyrim.

You wont get help for Wineskin here since it's a third party program, if you want help on that better check http://portingteam.com/forum/105-wineskin/
I also have an Unofficial update to Wineskin posted there also http://portingteam.com/topic/11037-wine ... ntry107560

I'll give that a try and see if it works! I have checked the appdb and taken all the workarounds listed there, that's why I mentioned the steam overlay. I also mentioned wineskin because since it uses wine, this at least seems to be a problem with wine itself thus far- no fixes I've found online seem to work. Can confirm this is restricted to just Skyrim, Fallout 3 runs without a hitch on just a clean wine install with no needed workarounds. Thanks for the reply!

That is strange since I run Skyrim thought Wineskin myself and it works just fine on my end, I even swapped to a newer wine version so I can use my XboxOne controller without workarounds
