How to change Wine locale on Mac?

Simply put, I want to change the Wine locale to Japanese so I can download a Japanese game (you need the original version first to download the English patch made for it), but I don't know how. Can anyone help?

This...doesn't help. It says for me to "set the environment variable," but I don't know how to do that. Can you explain to me how to do that?

There's an example in the section of the wiki I linked you to:

e.g. use LC_MESSAGES=ja_JP.UTF-8 wine japanese.exe

Just substitute the name of your executable for japanese.exe in the command line.

Okay, but what's a command line? And where do I find it?

Open a terminal and start typing. If you don't know how to do that, ask for help on a Mac forum. Basic knowledge of how to use your operating system is assumed here.

And therein lies the problem. Literally everything I try to do relating to wine always ends up with me getting the message "no such file or directory found" or "no such command found."

Where did you get Wine from and what commands have you tried?

I downloaded the 1.8-rc4 version.
I've tried everything. LC_MESSAGES, LANG=ja_JP.UTF-8, LANG=ja_JP.SJIS, none of it works.

Okay, so after much research on my part, I have come to the conclusion that there is something that I am doing wrong that most people think not to mention. With that in mind, I would like to request a video tutorial for changing the locale on Mac. It puzzles me that there hasn't been a video explaining how to do this yet, and I would like to rectify this, not just for me, but for everyone else who has the same problems I do.
