Sound Issues on vers. wine-1.8.1 in SWTOR

Post by quantumdot »

I've tried to solve this with information elsewhere to no avail, but since I've had no success and it's still annoying me I figured I'd come here.

I recently installed Wine (via homebrew) in order to install and run Star Wars: The Old Republic in the manner described here: http://www.techboxed.com/news/how-to-ge ... with-wine/

However, no matter what audio driver I use, I get weird crackling and skips that I can't seem to fix. I've tried other Wine apps (though, admittedly, through Wineskin and not through this brew install) and they all work fine audio-wise. I've tried pulse with the packet limits commonly cited in helping sound issues, I've tried ALSA, OSS... I even tried exporting the sound registry files (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Drivers\winecoreaudio.drv\devices) from the GOG install of Planescape: Torment (which uses Wineskin and has no audio issues) and importing them into this install via regedit. (I backed up the original registry values first.)

I'm kind of at my wit's end, and it lessens the enjoyment I have of a game with lovely music and voiceover that otherwise runs magnificently. I suppose I could try running wine-rt, but there's very little documentation on that and I don't even know if I could make a new wineprefix and have both swtor_fix and wine-rt work harmoniously. Any help would be appreciated. My Winetricks are as follows:

d3dx9_36
vcrun2008
msls31
winhttp
dsound

I'm also running SWTOR in Windows 7 mode, and my OS X is 10.9.5.

System info: 2.8 GHz Intel Core i7, 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB

Thanks in advance.
