Hello,
Last week I did install 2 old Windows programs using Wine (version 5.0.3 from Debian 11).
Both programs gave many OLE errors during install, but after installation they did work, maybe with some exceptions. When I did copy a photo for example, I did only get the path+filename of photo. Not the photo itself.
I cannot give you a listing of the errors, because I did this for somebody else, and I don't have the programs. But I guess these are common errors.
Is there a way to get OLE working fine?
With regards,
Paul van der Vlis
OLE errors during install
Re: OLE errors during install
I had also read your adventure on a Debian mailing list.
Unfortunately, without the terminal output, it is hard to tell exactly what is going wrong.
For example, it might help to use winetricks to install the Windows version of a DLL file.
Or the error is already fixed in a new Wine version.
Do you remember the name of the program?

Re: OLE errors during install
One programm is "askSam" version 4.0: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AskSam
The other program is an old program to organize photo's, but I forgot the name of it...
And now somebody asked me to install an database client. He also told me that he got OLE errors during install.
Bye,
Paul

Re: OLE errors during install
I can find a trial version of askSam for versions 3, 5, 6 and 7.
Unfortunately not version 4.
If you find version 4 somewhere or can get a terminal output, I'd be happy to help you.
