Network problem as of Ubuntu 18.10

Post by abusivogg »

Hello, I have a somewhat curious problem and perhaps it has happened to some of you.
On my pc some things don't work well in Wine using Ubuntu-based distributions from 18.10 or later, but they work fine for example in 18.04 or 16.04.
I mean more exactly something (I don't know what it is) related to the network, for example, if I open a windows CMD in Wine and do a "ping google.com", in distros 18.04 or less there is a ping response but if I do it in newer versions it doesn't connect the ping, there is no response.
This affects some things that interest me more than doing a simple ping, for example in a video game called Warframe, until 18.04 I can join groups or create groups, but in later versions not.
It looks like Wine has all ports blocked or something.

Ubuntu based distros where it works everything works fine for me:
- Pop_Os 18.04
- Mint 19.3
- ZorinOS 15.3
- Xubuntu 18.04

Does not work on:
- Pop_OS 20.04 / 21.04
- Mint 20.1
- ZorinOS Beta 16
- Kubuntu 20.04
- Xubuntu 20.04

I don't know what changed as of 18.04, but on my PC, Wine doesn't work as it should.
I also tried Manjaro and EndeavorOS (ARCH) and they have the problem.

PS: Sorry about my English, but I speak Spanish.

Probably this has to do with improved security in the new Ubuntu versions.

Or use Wine-staging. This wine version has a workaround for this problem.

No, unfortunately it was not solved by doing that, now I can do "pings" but the problem in the games continues to occur.
