Wine d2d1.dll lost: many audio plugins doesn't work

Post by Codesound »

wine-staging 6.8
Linux Mint x64_Cinnamom

Hi,

I inform you that there are several users who FAIL to use several vst plugins due to the lack of d2d1.dll: is there a way to inform wine-staginghq developers if this problem can be solved?I don't know how to inform them. I don't know how to use Bugzilla.... For example I CAN NOT use the free sampler TX16Wx: it installs correctly, but at startup it does not open because of this missing dll.

https://www.tx16wx.com/

below I list a couple of threads open on other forums that better illustrate the problem ():

Please help us!

I'm not familiar with what your are trying but I did check my 64-bit and 32-bit prefixes and d2d1.dll is showing in both in the windows/system32 folder. Perhaps it may not be implemented completely - I tried looking but was unable to find that out as I'm not really sure where to look. Perhaps you could try running winecfg for that prefix, disabling d2d1.dll and test to see if it helps or not. I saw that mentioned in regards to something else that was using d2d1.dll.

I also noted that both of the links you provided mentions using linvst. I know nothing about it but if that wasn't included in either the instructions you followed or what you did on your own, perhaps you need to research that to see if you need it as well.

linvst seems to be the piece that supports the interprocess communication needed between reaper and the other processes. Those 2 links point to questions by the same user, and the replies would indicate a problem with linvst and/or reaper.

Please run your program(s) that cause the errors via a terminal window and post back ALL of the console output from where you start it until the very end. Enclose that all in the code tags (the editor menu entry that shows as less than forward slash greater than).

Might give us more to work on and know if this anything to do with d2d1.dll or some other problem. Right now we have nothing to go from.

Also, have you looked at native linux "equivalents". At least one is free. I know nothing about what you are doing so I don't have a way to judge how the functionality compares. https://alternativeto.net/software/tx16wx/
