run_wineboot boot event wait timed out

Post by stu2005 »

When I run a wine command such as wineboot or winecfg, I get the following error:

Code: Select all

00b0:err:environ:run_wineboot boot event wait timed out

I'm getting the same error when trying to create a new wineprefix. Also the notification window that says "The Wine configuration in /path/to/.wineprefix is being updated, please wait..." stays on indefinitely. The error message appears in the terminal window 5 minutes after entering the command to make a new prefix. The command used was 'WINEPREFIX=~/.wine_testing winecfg'.

It started after upgrading my Fedora from version 32 to 33. My wine is wine-6.3 (Staging), and I used the same version already in Fedora 32 with no problems but for some reason after upgrading creating a prefix or launching a program from an existing one hangs when it tries to update the configuration for the new wine version.
