Dante Audio Controller on Linux

Post by steelymc »

I was wondering if anyone here could help me get a piece of software functioning in Wine. I use the following software called Dante Controller https://www.audinate.com/products/softw ... controller for my work and I was not sure if it could be run with Wine. This software is a networked audio control software for live audio systems. I tried to get it up and running on my Ubuntu based system but it did not have a portion of the program recognized called Dante Discovery. If anyone here had any thoughts on this I would really appreciate it. Let me know if you need any other details.

Thanks for any information.

I also attempted this last year. I ran into the same trouble and could not find a solution. I also attempted to run dante controller under a VM, but audinate goes out of their way to detect the VM and prevent use in a VM. I was able to capture what I needed by setting up a multcast stream (using a windows box) and using wireshark to capture the raw audio packets. The multicast stream persists reboots, so it is no problem. I just stripped off the headers and reassembled the payload in python.

There is a discussion of reverse engineering some of the controls here: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-c ... sible.html But it's half baked, as it still requires a windows machine to set it up the first time.

Audinate: if you're reading this... in the long run you'd do better to enable your 'niche' customers rather than try to control us... somebody else will come along who'll give us 'niche' users what we want and you'll lose us as customers, and then you'll start losing non-niche customers...
