Adobe Director-made game crashes when I launch it

Post by byjove01 » Fri Jan 29, 2021 2:27 pm

Heya.
I'm trying to launch a non-referenced game named "Siberian Odyssey: The Useful Dream". I don't think a lot of people knows it since it's an obscure French PC game edited by Mindscape in the 2000s, so I'm going to the essential.
This game was made with Adobe Director, so it is a particular case to manage with Wine ; I wouldn't be surprised if anyways my problem was due to a missing DLL resource.

When I try to launch the game, I got this error from Lutris (notice that at this moment I'm using Lutris' build but Wine-TKG doesn't solve anything):

Code: Select all

If anyone could help me to quickly solve this, I'd be grateful to him/her. I'd like a lot to play this game again.
I'm on Arch Linux btw, all my drivers are up-to-date and DXVK/virtual desktop doesn't both solve anything.

By default Lutris will disable all wine debug messages, so your terminal output isn't very helpful.
Enable debugging and post the output again.

Well, the Wine output debugging is enabled yet on my Lutris. But I used the "Full" mode (damn, it's such messy), here's what I got with it:

I was forced to put it on MEGA because it was a lot too heavy. It's just a .txt file.

It seems like my problem won't receive any solution... that's sad.

All I found is that the game stops on protect.exe. I expect this to be some kind of copy protection.
I don't know a solution yet
(It also doesn't help that there is a movie with the same name and that my French isn't very good anymore.)

Ah, so you didn't give up. :)
If you need any other info from my game copy, just ask. Maybe I should find a way to create a patch breaking the copy protection?
And yes, this game is an pretty decent adaptation from this French movie.
