SpeedFan (Windows utility)

Post by 13hm13 »

SpeedFan is one of my fave Windows programs. So useful ... when minimized (Status Bar), it continues to communicate multiple temps with minimal eye gaze. I have literally kept several PCs and laptops alive by keeping an eye on temps and oiling fan bearings as necessary.

In Linux Mint xfce 19-2, I was able to install SpeedFan with WINE. But SpeedFan seems to have no access to CPU/GPU and HDD sensors. How do I get it to work?

Thx!

I don't think this is possible. Speedfan relies on Windows hardware drivers.
Fortunately, there are Linux programs that do the same.

I have tried to install Linux alternative on my LinuxMint xfce 19.2 machine. So far, I can't get anything to work other than very inconvenient terminal based outputs.

What about Conky?

I have it up all the time, it displays temperatures and fan speeds with relatively easy configuration.
