Installation problems

Post by zukester »

1. Tried installing wine on Linux Mint 18 via system package manger, wine-stable-di not launch or even show launch button
2. Tried downloading and installing via package installer, extracting to a folder and trying to make it work-failed to work
3. Tried downloading via command line and got to the end and got this:

"sudo apt install --install-recommends winehq-stable
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created

The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
winehq-stable : Depends: wine-stable (= 5.0.0~bionic)

Removed "everything wine I could find" on the computer, re-tried, same error message.

I am a newbie, pretty much, although have used Linux off and on since the late 90s. Quitting Windows for good, have had some success with Mint so far.

Any ideas? Online searches no help, tried them already. Been at this for days now.

Thanks In Advance,

Hi
Did you manage to resolve this?
I'm having exactly the same problem installing on Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia. (Based Ubuntu 18.04)
Went to -
https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... ntu_18.04/
/repositories/Emulators:/Wine:/Debian/xUbuntu_18.04/amd64/libfaudio0_19.07-0~bionic_amd64.deb.meta4
to as FAudio not installed and the only packges seemed to be v19.07 (libfaudio0_19.07-0~bionic_amd64.deb)
Can I use this.
Due to the issues I've had with this I'm reluctant to try to install the wron version.
Can anybody please advise.

The FAudio packages on the OBS are the correct ones to use with the WineHQ packages. Note that you need to install both the amd64 and i386 packages.
