Fatal error installing Scrivener

Installing Scrivener on Manjaro KDE. My initial attempt failed as wine-gecko and wine-mono were not installed. Having installed them my next attempt gave:

called Tcl_Close on channel with refCount >0

I tried uninstalling wine, deleting .wine, and reinstalling, with wine-gecko and wine-mono. Same result.

How do I get round this? The only post I can find suggests installing an old version of Scrivener, which I tried - same result.

I don't notice any problems with Wine 5.1 on Debian Sid with the free demo from:
https://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener/download

Could you post the full terminal output?

I also tested version 3.0 Beta 36 from:

and you need to install speechsdk with winetricks as stated on:
https://www.literatureandlatte.com/foru ... 33&t=60326

Nevertheless, I cannot duplicate your problem.

I installed speechsdk and this time Scrivener installed perfectly.

Registering did prove a problem though, due to .NET not being installed.
The advice on the thread viewtopic.php?f=2&t=32869&sid=257be19e9 ... f80fda80aa - "TLS 1.2 for activate license of software Scrivener" - led me through the arcane process of installing it. It takes a while.

I am still getting the

I have dot net 4.6.2
I have mono
I have speechsdk

I still get the error.

When I tried updating the beta Release Candidate 5 to RC 6 yesterday, I received the same error.

I downloaded the installation file (Scrivener-2996) just to see if it'd work outside of the update process, same error. The RC 5 installation file (Scrivener-2995) still works so something appears to have changed.

I had the same error trying to install Beta Release Candidate 7 on ArchLinux with wine 5.10 and speechsdk installed. Finally managed it by using winetricks to run Explorer and running the installer from there.
