DirectX 11 for WINE.

Post by GusCE6 » Tue Jan 21, 2020 4:11 pm

Recently I've tried running the standalone GOG version of "Chook and Sosik Walk the Plank" on my 2012 ASUS laptop. It is a Dual Operating System device, the Linux mode in question here is Puppy Linux 6.0.5 Tahrpup. The version of WINE here is an older one, but runs most else.

The game always gives a "DirectX 11" error message.

I tried the trick of directly installing DirectX 11. The files seem to be present and the installation seemed to go through nicely, but nothing has changed.

What is wrong here? Note that the game works perfectly in Windows 8 mode.

Does anyone know the answer to this one?

By the by, I have gotten Windows "Foxtail" running on Puppy Linux 5.2.5 Lucid! :)

Dual Operating System device
So, running DOS? Just joking...

Aside from posting logs there is not much the developers can do i guess. Have a gander at this page to figure out how to post a log that might clarify the problem: https://wiki.winehq.org/Wine_Developer% ... ug_Logging

There are other options for running wine games with D3D11 tho, but it is unsupported by wine. (Tends to work a lot better tho, but that depends on your hardware and/or distro).

In this case, the Operating System I'm trying to get the game running on is Puppy Linux 6.0.5 Tahrpup.

Could you give me some more information about those other options? Thanks!
