java application has bad graphic resolution

Post by ewald » Sun Jan 05, 2020 4:40 am

I am dealing with a java application (TimeWriter https://www.timewriter.com/) to make it run under Ubuntu Linux 18.04.3.
I have Wine 3.0 installed from the Ubuntu repos. I also have managed to get the Wine Windows Program Loader available which is a different story solved by this thread (https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2391933)
The application runs under Wine but graphics are bad (see screenshot). This is what I have tried in winecfg so far:
- install a theme
- emulated all available Win versions from XP to Win10
- adapted screen resolution
- run with and without virtual desktop (virtual desktop in different resolutions)
All measures didn't bring any improvement. Here is my question:
how can I go about further diagnosis and possibly find a solution?

I have Wine 3.0
Update to Wine 5.0 and try again.

To make the fonts less blurry read the WineHQ FAQ for more information.

I did already manipulate the screen resolution on the Graphics tab in winecfg, that doesn't help
I upgraded to 5.0. and opened the installer with Wine Program Loader. The install starts but crashes towards the end with an "unkown error".

Can't reproduce your problems, works fine for me.
