Virustotal trojan alert for wine-mono-4.9.0.msi

Post by tanaho2020 »

Hi there.
I need to run Subtitle Edit 3.5.9 in my wine 1.8.7 on my Debian Stretch.
Accordingly i need the wine-mono too that i downloaded it from
https://dl.winehq.org/wine/wine-mono/4. ... -4.9.0.msi
Unfortunately i received this result from scan that file with VT engine
https://cdn1.imggmi.com/uploads/2019/7/ ... c-full.jpg
PLZ explain me what's wrong with the file and why that file detected as a trojan included?
Grateful.

Wine 1.8.7, which is no longer supported btw, requires wine-mono-4.5.6.
The current wine-stable release is 4.0.1

Virus scanners often report newly released files as false positives...
Since, these days, they are typically based on scanning for hashes of code fragments.
Which is subject to noise / errors in detection.
You can report this .msi file, as a false positiive, to the developers of the affected virus scanners.
