Unable to install wine

There are several forum topics about this issue. Probably there is a version mismatch between a amd64 and i386 package.
You can find the unmet dependency by checking the dependencies by hand:

sudo apt-get install wine-stable
...
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
 wine-stable : Depends: wine-stable-amd64
    wine-stable-i386
...
sudo apt-get install wine-stable-amd64
sudo apt-get install wine-stable-i386
<and so on>
