Dark Souls 1 crash after character creation

Hello,

I'm trying to run Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition via wine. I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with wine wine-3.0-rc6 on a 32bit prefix.

Just after installing the game, it crashed on the title screen. Then I read the HowTo part of the winehq entry and installed

wmp9
with winetricks.

This fixed the title screen issue.

Now it crashes after character creation just before I think the Intro movie starts? (Or maybe you are directly ingame after that...?)

Apparently there are some problems with a video plugin. I tried installing

but this does not solve the problem.

Do you have any suggestions what is going wrong here and what I could try?

For a typical Syswow 64-bit Wine install, there is typically only wine64 (64-bit ELF) and wine (32-bit ELF).

I'd recommend testing with the latest winehq-staging or winehq-develop packages.
The current Development release version of Wine is 3.13.

At first I tried it with my normal 64bit prefix but apparently you can't install wmp9 there. And since Dark Souls is apparently also a 32bit game, I just installed it again with my 32bit prefix and installed wmp9 there.
Just as a short explanation, why I'm using a 32bit prefix.
