Tag&Rename v3.9.15 not running in Linux Mint Cinnamon 19

Post by Perkeo »

I have just installed WineHQ 3.0.1 from the stable repository "bionic main". I am running Linux Mint Cinnamon 19 Tara.
I downloaded the latest version of Tag&Rename v3.9.15 from the developer's website and installed it in WineHQ without problems. This program is rated platinum in WineHQ list of applications.
After the installation, when I click on the programs's icon to make it run, it freezes on the splash screen that shows the program's name and it doesn't go away until I kill the process.
This is the output of winedbg. Do you see anything that could be causing this program to freeze?

Code: Select all

$ winedbg
Wine-dbg>bt all

I have tried installing the program with PlayOnLinux and the same thing happens. After installation, when I try runnign the program it hangs with the splash window of the program and it does not go further.
I have tried to debug the program in PlayOnLinux, this is what I got:

Code: Select all

My Linux Mint OS is 32-bit. I am running the program in a 32bit Wineprefix.
Is there anything else I can try?
Try running the application set to >>>Windows XP<<< compatibility:

Code: Select all

winetricks winxp
Tag & Rename 3.9.15 crashes for me with the WINEPREFIX default of Windows 7.
The old test result on WineHQ AppDB is using Wine 1.7.47, which is very old and pre-dates the switch to a default of Windows 7, for new WINEPREFIX's.

Also the current Wine Stable release is 3.0.2.

Running Tag&Rename v3.9.15 in compatibility mode with WindowsXP worked. The program is not running properly in Linux Mint.
Thank you!
