Star Trek New Worlds: visual elements are misaligned (wi3.9)

Post by pbackx »

I'm trying to run Start Trek New Worlds on Wine 3.9 Linux. I have switched to the dev branch because on the stable Wine (3.0) the game crashed.

With 3.9 and no other specific configuration, I am able to run the game, however, I have a number of visual issues (see attached image):
  • A black border at the top of screen, which pushed the image down and hides the bottom row of buttons (there are supposed to be 2 rows of 3 buttons at the bottom.
  • The text field is misaligned. It should be inside the black area.
  • The buttons are too wide
I have a feeling all issues are related to the same problem. It seems to be a trivial compatibility issue, but I can't figure it out.

I've checked the FAQ, checked appdb, searched the forum and the Internet in general, but have not found anything.

I've also tried to enable debug logging, but it does not seem to offer me much information (in fact, it's too much information, none of it seems relevant to my newbie eye). The following "fixme" info shows up when running the game (without extra logging turned on)

Code: Select all

002e:fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33e984,0x00000000), stub!
0036:fixme:win:EnumDisplayDevicesW ((null),0,0x33e984,0x00000000), stub!
Does any one have ideas of things to try?
