Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
Environment:
Ubuntu 18.04
Wine 2.8
Kernel 4.15
3 displays
App: Office 2010
For example: Word 2010 - any drop down menu (event when installing office 2010, while choosing installation apps in MS window) doesn't appear on click.
Sometimes they appear, for about 1 / 100 clicks.
But on click this window blinks, as if Ubuntu window manager intercepts actions.
I didn't find any errors that related to this window action.
P.s. it seams it's reproduced on wine 1.7.2 as well.

Re: Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
I noticed that drop-down list works fine if the window isn't in focus.
Example:
1. Open MS Word 2010
2. Click on any other window to Unfocus MS Word
3. Click on drop-down list in MS Word before clicking on entire window i.e. don't make focus on MS Word window
In that case - drop-down menu works, in others - not.

This is a Crossover log parts when clicking drop-down menu (however i didn't notice any serious difference):
with "Unfocus" trick:
without (i.e. drop-down not working):

Re: Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
Did you really mean 2.8? The current development release is 3.8, so if that wasn't a typo, you need to upgrade.uptoyou wrote:Wine 2.8
Re: Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
Maybe 2.8 is a Crossover version (it's exactly shows 2.8 ) ?
Solved the issue by removing all Gnome settings:

I'l post specific setting that caused the issue when i'l explore it.

Re: Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
Such weird behavior was due to "Input language Source" setting (yes i'm gone crazy too) !

Re: Gnome window manager interaction (drop down menu)
FYI, Crossover is not supported here. This forum is for plain Wine only. If you're using Crossover you should post on their forum.uptoyou wrote:Maybe 2.8 is a Crossover version (it's exactly shows 2.8 ) ?
