nothing works for me

I've tried installing, Quicken, Microsoft Money, etc. and nothing works. What am I doing wrong, very frustrating.

1. Do Wine's builtin programs (winecfg, notepad, etc) work?
2. What version of Wine are you using? If it's not the latest development release, upgrade and try again.
3. Have you checked the AppDB for information about the specific versions of Quicken and MS Money you have tried to install? For both those apps, some versions are reported to work well while others don't work at all in Wine.

1. Yes, both config and notepad work fine
2. Currently using v 1.6
3. Quicken 2010 is listed as OK and should work

When try to install Quicken it starts to load but then stops after just a few seconds, then I get a message about a fatal error or something and that it has to close.
That's as far as it goes.
I must not be doing something right but can't figure out what that is.

As already said, please upgrade your version of wine and try again. 1.6.x is already 4 years old.

I did upgrade to 1.8 and was able to successfully install Quicken. Thanks for all your help.

You upgraded your wine version released 2013-07-18 ( 1.6 ), to a wine version released 2015-12-19( 1.8 ).

I wonder.. does Quicken work on the wine version released 2018-01-18(3.0)? Just because the appdb lists "tested with xxx" does not mean THAT is the very best version for it, cos once it works ppl sometimes cba to post tests with every new release.
