I was wondering if any body ever tried installing soda player under wine/ubuntu?

Thanks for your reply. I heard very good things about soda player, it would be nice if there would be a linux native version.

Video player support under Wine is, at present, very poor... I don't believe it's a developer priority issue either...

Checkout: mpv - if you haven't already...

My config is just:

~/.config/mpv/mpv.conf 
hwdec=vdpau
save-position-on-quit=yes
It's most awesome, gets-out-your-way video player I've ever used! 8)
It even claims to have lip-sink (audio/video synchronisation heuristics).
VLC, et al have been consigned to the trashcan of redundancy on my system...

Native is always best. Wine is for the rest...
