"Could not initialize the GUI subsystem"

Post by squiffy »

Hello,

after changing from Linux Mint 18.1 to 18.2 I get the following error message from MeldaProduction (music software) installers:
"Could not initialize the GUI subsystem

Error: no styles available. Please install the software"
All other programs I use run without problems.

I've looked around on the Internet and haven't found any help yet. Maybe someone here can give me a hint....

Many thanks in advance.

Linunx Mint 18.2 (64-Bit)
Wine-2.0.2

Got the same error.

Copy an Arial.TTF into ~/.wine/drive_c/Windows/Fonts makes the bug go away.

(or do winetricks corefonts)

Could you test if that helps for you too?

Hi, I always install MS corefonts...

But the problem is "solved"... :? I don't know why, but I can describe how: I finally tried all the older installers of the software, and one of them worked. Thereafter, the problem had disappeared. No issues, using the latest version of those and also other applications I use from this company.

Thank you anyhow for answering.
