what to do after a patch to Everquest

Post by Qiset »

Thanks to help from here, I managed to get Everquest running under OpenSUSE 13.1.
Now after my first server patch, I ran a windows and copied all the files there werer updated
over to my Linux file system. I did the chown, chgrp, and chmod to the files. When I run it,
it goes to the list of servers. When I try to log into one of the servers I get this error -
Error 1017: Cannot login to the EverQuest Server.
You may need to re-run the Update Patch

Any suggestion as to what I missed?

Thanks

Ok,I've figured this one out. It seems that a simple copy from the everquest directory to a thumb drive wasn't quite enough.
I read where someone used samba to mount a windows drive to run EQ and I thought that copying from such a shared drive
would work better. Sure enough it did. There were a few files that the windows xcopy didn't get but a cp -uR did.
All is right with the world once again. Thanks for being there.
