Wine install (latest stable as of 8-10-17) obtaining error

Post by kirbo719 »

Linux Mint ver 18.2 Sonya 64-bit xfce desktop. Attempting to install latest stable version of Wine

Added this repository: 'deb https://dl.winehq.org/wine-builds/ubuntu/ xenial main'

Attempting to install latest stable version via:
sudo apt-get install --install-recommends winehq-stable -y

At the end of the process - many, many lines later in terminal - I obtain these entries:

Setting up libosmesa6:amd64 (17.0.7-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) ...
Processing triggers for initramfs-tools (0.122ubuntu8.8) ...
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.8.0-53-generic

W: Possible missing firmware /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin for module i915
Warning: No support for locale: en_US.utf8
Processing triggers for libc-bin (2.23-0ubuntu9) ...

I'm not certain how to proceed. Guidance, someone?

Thank you, in advance!

None of the terminal output you posted is about Wine.

What makes you think Wine wasn't installed? If you package manager was unable to install Wine, there should have been something in the terminal saying that.

Just use a real Ubuntu flavour - instead of Linux Mint's kludgy re-spins.

E.g. Xubuntu or Ubuntu Mate ...

In addition aptitude is better at resolving missing dependencies than apt is.
