Hello folks,
I have a Notebook with Leap 42.1 and I try to run SketchUp with WINE.
I am new with Linux and WINE so excuse my 'easy' questions.
These days I tried a lot but at least nothing work
WINE tells me, I try to install a 64bit Windows Program on a 32bit system.
I thought I had installed a 64 bit WINE...
I hope someone can help me to setup the 64bit WINE.
Thanks and bye
WINE 64bit don't work with my LEAP 41.1

Re: WINE 64bit don't work with my LEAP 41.1
The message is probably about trying to install a 64 bit app to a 32 bit wineprefix. Create a 64 bit wineprefix for SketchUp and install it to that.

Re: WINE 64bit don't work with my LEAP 41.1
You should not be running Wine as root. Delete that wineprefix and run Wine only as a normal user. That may be enough to solve your problem.MoonClimber55 wrote:.

The default architecture for a wineprefix is 64 bit when 64 bit Wine is installed; you don't need to specify WINEARCH. If you are using the openSUSE packages, you should have 64 bit Wine installed.
To create the default wineprefix (~/.wine), just run wineboot as your normal user. If you want to use a different wineprefix, follow these instructions:

Re: WINE 64bit don't work with my LEAP 41.1
thank you dimesio ... I removed the 'old' WINE installation and logged in as a 'normal' user.
I installed WINE again. When I try to install the program SketchUp I get the message: you need a WINDOWS 7, Service Pack 1
Perhaps it is not possible to run SketchUp with WINE ....
When I am back from holiday I try it on my old Laptop

Re: WINE 64bit don't work with my LEAP 41.1
... at least I configure WINE to WIN 7.
I start installation of SketchUp and the installation runs in the beginning 'normal', but then I got the message:
Installieren der Komponente Visual C++ "14" Laufzeitbibliotheken (x64) fehlgeschlagen. Fehlermeldung:
"Dienst existiert nicht. " => "Service don't exist"
Die folgenden Komponenten wurden nicht installiert: => these components had been not installed:

Weitere Informationen finden Sie in der Setup-Logdatei unter "C:\users\steve55\Temp\VSD6cfd.tmp\install.log".
It seems to be a difficult installation ...

@MoonClimber55
Take a look the Wine AppDB page for Sketchup 2017 ...
rant
Please, please use the forum tags for terminal output...
Please pick a sensible forum title e.g. Trimble Sketchup 2017 - cannot install with Wine 2.14.
Of course I'm just guessing what version of Wine you're using and the Sketchup version you're trying to install...
Because you haven't told us any of this information...
It's just annoying trying to pick through forum threads with titles like "Wine don't work ..."
This is Wine forum - this is not useful information...
Sorry but I'm going to have to bring kitty out again to play...
