'No printers' error...

Post by fungible »

When I try to print from the Wine Notepad utility I get 'Before you can perform printer related tasks you need to install a print...'. The host system has two printers installed and working, a Brother Laser printer and a HP deskjet, both network printers. Advice please. The host system is Linux Mint 18.2 64bit, Xfce. Thanks in advance.

The most common reason for Wine not seeing printers is not having the necessary 32 bit CUPS libs installed on the host.

Aha! That makes sense. How do I get the 32 CUPS libs? Thanks

Install it through your package manager the same way you would install anything else. As to which package you need, if you can't find it yourself, ask for help on the Linux Mint forum. Packaging varies greatly by distro and I don't use Mint, so I can't help you with specific package names.
