Steam html rendering

Post by aimeec1995 »

I am running steam via wine on FreeBSD.
I cannot seem to get anything html related such as the steam store and steam community to render in the client.
I tried a few fixes for it I found on the arch wiki but none of it has worked. I am running in windows 7 mode but I've tried windows xp

Checkout: WineHQ AppDB: Steam / Official Release page.
Specifically: the section Steam Client Build Issues.
But a general skim over the other sections is (of course) advised!

I like to keep the page pretty up-to-date.

There is a new bug open (I've not explicitly mentioned) - in regard to html text rendering - but to be fair that only affects Wine users that attempt to run Steam in Windows 7 compatibility mode (which is broken). Which hasn't been recommended for months now...
See: WineHQ Bug 43319 - Steam Store and Uplay no longer display text (in Windows 7 mode) ...

Of course I'm testing on Gentoo GNU/Linux - so there may be FreeBSD-specific issues that also come into play...

To be fair the workaround has been given on the WineHQ AppDB: Steam / Official Release for some years now (in the Installation section)...

Code: Select all

winetricks --no-isolate steam
also automatically pulls in MS corefonts - again this has been the case for years.
