Ive followed the instructions on the install page for more than 6 hours I'm lost.
I can get past the Release.key step but when I try to sudo apt install wine-stable it can't find the file.
I've tried wine*, wine*32. Wine*32 seemed to install but no program shows up nor a file.
Brand new Linux user, cant get wine to install

Which install page? Debian or Ubuntu?Modnar wrote:Ive followed the instructions on the install page for more than 6 hours I'm lost.
Well, for one thing, the command is apt-get, not apt. Second, the package name is winehq-stable, not wine-stable. Third, you do need to include the --install-recommends. Also, did you add the repository and run sudo apt-get update before you ran that mangled command?I can get past the Release.key step but when I try to sudo apt install wine-stable it can't find the file.
Re: Brand new Linux user, cant get wine to install
(On Ubuntu apt does just the same as apt-get. They shortened it for convenience)
