Life is feudal - Your own - developer contact

Post by dj--alex »

https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager. ... &iId=17376
https://pastebin.com/BQgPek94 - here is a log of game

Game just dont work and immidiatly crash after run.
I add my test data with wine 2.10 CSMT

I have license key and i can contact directly with a developer of game
They interests run this game in DX11 mode on Wine. Unfortunately engine cannot be reworked on OpenGL or Vulkan.

On my prefix installed Witcher III (Authors of game are too weak to port this to Linux pff. Authors Wine is better.)

My current recommendations for the Steam Client are to override the Windows version for the Steam Client executable - to Windows XP.
This applies if you are using a higher/newer Windows version for your WINEPREFIX. See WineHQ AppDB: Steam - Installation.
Since the Windows Vista(+) version of the Steam Client has a tendency to force CEF sandboxing.
  • Have you tested the game with a 32-bit WINEPREFIX? See WineHQ FAQ: 6.5.3 How do I create a 32 bit wineprefix on a 64 bit system?
  • What's the output from:

    Code: Select all

    glxinfo | grep OpenGL
    on your system?
  • Have you tested the game with Wine Staging 2.10 - with CSMT enabled?
  • You haven't supplied a console log - from before your supplied backtrace.
Can you post this? See WineHQ FAQ: 10.1.1 How can I get a debugging log (a.k.a. terminal output)?
  • Please use forum:

    Code: Select all

    Code
tags!! When posting any terminal output or console logs.

So they want to wrap it with Wine and publish it on Steam?

Like Topware games did with their old DX9 titles. Am i right?

In that case ; they should be involved with that , not an user like you because that kind of remote connection via you is not healthy.

They should check their game themselves with Wine.

Please use Google Translate - if you are struggling to think/type in English...
When I was growing up the world wide web wasn't even invented - let alone these amazing tools that are available for free these days.
Now we've got them - why not take advantage of them?!! 8)

I was just suggesting to run your Steam executable - only - in the Wine Windows XP mode.
I clearly linked to the WineHQ AppDB page for Steam - which details how to do this.
That might make your life easier - if you are testing lots of Steam games...

Obviously the game you are testing requires Windows 7 mode - for DirectX 11 support.
But, as I indicated, you can override the Wine Windows mode for individual executables.

You probably shouldn't agree to test shovelware out under Wine - that should be the developers responsibility...
Although quite frankly - if they aren't approaching Codeweavers / Porting for an officially Wine wrapped port - I don't see the point of this exercise anyway...

Probably they just mocked you to do that , how can you agree to do tests for that kind of developers?

And the most important thing is ; Linux gaming is not in need of Wine wrap ports. We need native versions. Wine is the last resort.

This particular Feudal game looks like abandoned and even Wine wrapping won't worth it.

no problem!
they already check game in wine and it not work with same results.

unfortunately game not planned adds engine OpenGL or Vulkan, Only DX11 render

i known about porting and wine is last resort.. but selection is simple - working on wine or never working.

I already told about tests on Windows 7 and 10 modes, just add two new results. (no results of course)
Of course i know about game requires wine windows 7 mode and requires DX11 support.

Required shaders is Compute Shader dx11.
info
https://msdn.microsoft.com/ru-ru/librar ... s.85).aspx

As i know exist partial patch to wine UAV's created by Józef Kucia
if need i post it here.

letter contain data:
but some of the known issues are:
- Various missing shader model 4/5 features.
- Various missing resource formats.
- 1D and array textures aren't implemented.
- There's only limited support for views.
- Compute, domain and hull shaders don't exist at all.
- Geometry shader support is really limited.
- Stream-output is not implemented."

im not compiling wine about 2 years , and have no expirience to adding staging patches to source
or exist source with staging patches?
it still requires chroot?

i don't have a time to compile right now. but if they really create patch we can just wait 2.11
