It allows me to create them but when I go to edit them it shows the source file located at the location of the Word doc, NOT the source Excel file.
Also, I took the same doc under Windows with the same installation files as the one in Ubuntu, and was able to create working links to Excel objects. But these objects, working under Windows, checking them under Ubuntu it says they are corrupt. So the files seem to work but just not under Ubuntu. Any ideas?

You've not really supplied nearly enough information for anyone to help you...
It's also very unclear what steps you've taken to install the individual MS Office products??!!

- What version of Wine have you installed?
- Have you installed the Office applications - using Wine or are you trying to (incorrectly) reference Office products directly installed under native MS Windows?
See WineHQ FAQ: 5.1 I have lots of applications already installed in Windows. How do I run them in Wine? - Have you installed the Office products to separate WINEPREFIX's ?
See WineHQ FAQ: 6.5 Wineprefixes.

I installed them with separate prefixes. So how does the system know which installation to use to open say an Excel file?Bob Wya wrote:@juntjoo

What version wine is this? I don't know. I installed it a long time ago. Do updates do themselves or do I need to manually do it?
