Trying to install Skype for Business

Post by wine_for_all »

I'm trying to install skype for business on my Ubuntu distro.
I've recently downloaded the light version: lyncentry_4417-1000_x86_en-us.exe
From this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=49440
Right after I try to install I receive the following message: "This program requires Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, or a newer operating system".
The message is clear. But, isn't there a workaround to this issue?

@wine_for_all,

Upgrade your outdated Wine package to a supported version. See WineHQ Ubuntu...

See: WineHQ AppDB: Networking & Communication / Chat, Instant Messaging, Telephony / Skype / 7.x.

See: WineHQ FAQ: 6.5 Wineprefixes. This section mentions about how to change the Windows version used for a specified WINEPREFIX...

Hi,

i'm running wine-2.0.2 configured as windows 7 on ubuntu 17.04 and i'm trying to install skype for business,

the installer fails with:

Code: Select all

err:msi:ITERATE_WriteRegistryValues Could not create key L"SOFTWARE\\Microsoft\\Windows NT\\CurrentVersion\\Image File Execution Options\\AppSharingHookController.exe"
err:msi:ITERATE_Actions Execution halted, action L"WriteRegistryValues" returned 1627
i'have also tried to modify the Image File Execution Options registry key from regedit and the operation results in an error even if with wine configured as windows xp.

Is there a workaround for this problem?

thanks in advance
