Increasing Virtual Drive Security

Post by seanyo »

Sorry if this seems too newbish of a request for help or maybe wine already has a protocol involved that I'm unaware of. I play two games which require wine because they don't have an open source conversion of the binary for openGL/vulkan to be used instead of directx... blah blah. anyways, I was curious if there are methods to increasing security, be it encryption of the virtual drive or sandboxing which would keep hackers out the virtual drive to exploit data or even worse make wine have my kernel eat its own face off. I am not a security expert, but i do understand some concepts at their root in the shuffling of binary. I am more a guy to think, can't we just get along, but more realistic to know that yes, if u get too many head shots joe schmoe is gonna try and fuck over your system instead of just playing the game nicely..... so blah.

Can virtual drive folders be encrypted and still used through Play On Linux?
Has wine already addressed this issue?
Will wine team up with avast (or other knowledgeable team) to create more secure binary streams?
